1997 trans am gauge cluster question
1997 trans am gauge cluster question I have a 97 trans am gauges with the digital odometer. The odometer quit working on me or something cause there are no numbers but the back light is on. My question is can i use a 98 -02 trans am dash to replace mine? If so,can i also use 97 - 02 z28 gauges? thanks
You have to get the 97 Camaro cluster and cut the harness then splice it into the 97 connector. YOu can then get a newer 98-02 dash with all of the vents and whatnot and it will work fine. Doing the conversion on my 96 Z28.
You may look in to having your cluster repaired, wont be cheap. It's a little tough to find a working 97 cluster any more.
That's for a Camaro, he has a Trans Am, firebirds from 93-02 all had the same dash with slight differences in color and fonts.

I am fully aware of that. Some guys swap the newer camaro interior. I should have been more clear that I was alluding to the fact it can be done if you go with the complete camaro interior. FWIW I spotted a 97 cluster for a trans am on ebay last week. You can find them, just have to be patient. People are still wrapping these things around trees quite regularly, its just there are less of them!

1997 they updated the interiors on both F-cars, for the Firebirds it was small things, console, cluster got the digital Odometer and a/c control panel vent emblems changed. The Camaros got a more dramatic redo, entire dash, radio, a/c controls, cluster, head lamp switch and console all changed, not to mention the seat pattern changed.
