Default Magnaflow Catback Owners Come inside

Hey guys I got some good news today and my car is actually running right for the first time in 1 year. Anyways back on November I put a magnaflow catback on the car. Anyways it fit horrible to me not having the stock brackets on the car and its hanging on by 2 rubber exhaust straps. It looks horrible. I am not really happy with it and there are a few camaros sitting in a local junk yard and I could get the stock brackets cheap. So if you have had this exhaust how does it fit on the stock brackets. I sorta don't want to weld it up since when I had it running at the house and I really did not like they way it sounded. Liked it on a stock car but with a cam its awful. I also have a annoying drone from 3-4k rpm. Also it was a very quieter that my old setup, which I am guessing was a knock off flowmaster muffler. So if it decide to swap the exhaust out to something else the brackets would be stock. If you have any pics on the stock brackets that would be great. If you did not use the stock ones what did you use. Thanks

i had to have an exhaust shop cut up the hangers a bit to make everything sit right. they only charged me $10. i got a lot of compliments on the sound with a CC503 and a GM847 cam in it. as far as the drone i must have been running open y-pipe too long to notice.

Could always try putting a resonator in the Y pipe to get rid of the drone. Straight through mufflers like magnaflow generally have that droneing problem. I like the sound of a chambered muffler myself even if they don't flow as good.

That is my only complaint with mine is the hangers.I would like to change it over to the LS1 style I think that would help.I have no drone, your over the axle pipe could be hitting or real close to the panhard stiffner which would cause the drone.

When I had Magnaflow mine fit like a glove. I didn't have any droning issues even with the heads/cam and thought it sounded pretty awesome, just too quiet for my taste at times.

Yeah overall I would give this exhaust a C. Its to quiet and the fitment sucked. I am probably going to call the shop where the car got fixed and see if they will do it. I will still go at least look at the stock mounts to see if they would work.

I must say that i absolutely love magnaflow with LTs and ory. Mine is setup on stock hangers but my piping is all custom. I just bought the muffler and did the rest.

yeah it sounds pretty good with long tube headers and ory, but with a cam and about 11:1 compression it just sounds bad. Plus it was never the exhaust I really wanted. I always wanted a slp loudmouth but that might get me pulled since I would be running straight pipe. So that still might happen as a lot of people are selling them due to being to loud. So we will see. For now ill stick with this I guess.

I had to have brackets fabricated to make mine fit correct. Love how mine sounds on the other hand..

Yeah I am just going to get it fabricated up. Then in a few months ill buy a electric cut out. Then I can be happy when I want to and quiet when it needs to be. Still can believe how quiet this car is. Almost cant hear the cam from inside the car.

The only reason I really got the magnaflow was herron performance was running a deal with buy headers, y-pipe and magnaflow catback. My brother was buying headers so I made a deal I would buy the catback. Otherwise I think I would have swapped to a true dual setup.

the only part of mine that doesn't fit well is the hangers for the tips, other than that I am very happy with it. I will admitt it was a little quiet when it was first installed, but now, haha, it's not so quiet, my dad can hear litterally a mile down the road from his neighborhood, and I'm not kidding.

Yeah I am going to keep the exhaust since I do a lot of highway driving. Then have the cutout for the fun times.

It shouldn't be that much..my guy here does it for like $20 to touch up everything..if I have to go in I usually have a few things to do to make it worth it.

before my magnaflow went on, I had manifolds, no cat, and flowmaster, at idle and under 2k, it sounded decent, loud, but decent. Then the longtubes, ory, and magnaflow went on, much quieter inside and out at idle, I don't have to shut the car off in drivetrus, and it sounded good everywhere, and I could still sneek around when I wanted to. Now, with 1.6 rollers in there, it completely changed the sound, and about a year and a half of driving it (about12-13k miles) and it's still quiet at idle and crusing, but a touch louder, and at wot, it's nasty, I mean like loud gonna f-up your world kinda nasty. I've found, the more you get down on it, the louder it starts to get, I'm really happy I went with the magnaflow.
