What is your budget and goals? What heads have you opted to go with? The more information you give, the more of an informed decision can be made.

the heads are stock heads heavily ported with whole new valve train, cam will be a custom grind, single plane and a monoblade. im looking for any healthy combo whether it be a 355 383 or anything. i want to no what other people have gone with cube wise and what brands of crank pistons rods and that stuff and are making good power.

You still haven't answered the budget or goals question. A 355 and a 383 require two different approaches.

So you have 3k. Cool. What parts do you already have (i.e. what are you starting with?).

And you still have to answer the GOALS question. "Good power" doesn't give us much to go on.

I would contact the supporting vendors and see what they are offering. I would go 383, 6inch h beam rod, Nitrous forged piston(JE, Diamond, Ross). I would stay away from eagle and scat. Compstar, callies, lunati is what i would look into.

theres a guy running high 8's out of Iowa who has a LME 383(late model engine). I would give them a call. Pretty sure hes hitting a 350 shot.

700HP is nothing to sneeze at, and will easily cost you more than 3k to be done correctly. I don't for-see you doing the machine-work yourself. At that power level, you'll need a high quality forged crank (Callies or Cola is a good bet), good forged h-beam rods, good nitrous pistons (Diamond is arguably the best), and splayed four bolt mains (not totally necessary, but worth the peace of mind with that kind of power).

Basically what slomarao said is spot-on.

Plus you'll want to half fill your block with hard block for added strength, you'll need almost double your budget. The proper forged rotating assembly will cost you $1500 _ $2000 plus the proper block maching, splayed billet caps, block filled will cost another $2000. Then you'll want to upgrade the oilpan/pump/pickup, ARP head/main studs, yada yada yada, it adds up really fast.
