Default Building a 355 need advice

okay im ready to start ording the parts for my rebuild. what i need to know is what are some good, fairly inexpensive forged rods and pistons i should look at? my plans are a 355 using the stock crank (having it turned) forged rods and pistons, set of le2 heads and a cam he recommends for about 425 to the wheels. might see a 75 shot or sts with 5 psi what do you guys recommend and can you post links to the parts this is my first built motor thanks

Yes those are the ones i have and are forged, but make sure that is the set up you want cause it is a 6 inch rod and pistons for a 6 inch rod over the stock 5.7

you wont have that problem, they say the shorter piston is good for more HP N/A and the 5.7 is better for spray cause the piston is larger and can handle it. But im going to still run a 200 shot. I dont believe i will have a problem seeing its all forged parts

i wont ever run a 200 shot the most will be a 100 shot which is why i want the forged stuff also. are there any other parts i should also look into so i can start ordering some parts. like i saw somewhere else that ppl put a cloyes oversized sprocket on the crank to take up some slack? it seems like i want to build my motor preaty close to yours do you mind if i keep in contact if i have any questions down the road?

Ive never heard of ppl using the Cloyes bottom sprocket to take up slack, maybe someone else can chime in on that. I know if you use the Cloyes chain you have to use an Electric water pump but not sure if you just use the bottom sprocket

im going to talk to Lloyd about that when i order the heads from him i was hoping he could recommend something that will work good with his le2 setup and also reach my power goals. i would like the cam to be very streetable as well. i was also hoping that lloyd can point me in the right direction as fars as what roller rockers, lifters, and push rods to go with

I used the Cloyes crank sprocket to take up some of the slack that my brand new LT4 Extreme Duty Timing set had. I believe this is what you're talking about.

You usually only need the oversized crank sprocket if your block has been align bored/hone which usually only happens if you have new main caps installed.
