got a problem...when i turn the key to "run" my guages are supposed to come on, fuel pump ect ect...but nothing happens.
but when i turn the key forward to engage the starter everything comes on and the starter cranks and engine runs
however, as soon as i let off on the switch everything shuts off. the car is in the "run" position halfway to "crank". could this be a key switch rod malfunction? my high beams dont click on either

Both switches could need to be adjusted. When you drop the column they both have elongated bolt holes so you can loosen the bolts and move the switches around

 

The ignition switch and dimmer switch are held on by the same fasteners. If they are loose both switches could be affected.
