Default Comp 918s or Yellow LS6s

Hey guys I'm new here and just got referred over from 3.8mustang.com. So here's the question: I'm installing a new cam with .545 lift, and currently have 918s to install, but I have some people saying they're too much pressure and I should go with a lighter spring like a yellow ls6. People have had success with both, but I am unsure what to do now. Here's a link to the thread where the guy told me to come here and maybe I'd get some good info. Thanks alot everyone, Mike.

I would go with the Comp 918, they are beehive springs and can handle lift up to .600
While the Yellow LS6 springs are only good to .550 lift, so if your at .545 lift they will be close to there limit and it would be better to go with the Comp 918.

What Rockers are you using and what heads are these going in?

These are for a 3.8 Mustang. Just the stock 1.7 rockers and heads.
Thanks for the quick responses though.

The 918s aren't too much.

I agree on using them. I just tested some spring pressure on some springs last week and The yellow springs I test started binding right at 1.25" which is .550 at a 1.8" installed height (stock LS1). I don't know what the heights are on whatever your using them on, but that's something to look out for.

And just an fyi, I also tested some non yellow LS2 springs also .550 lift and they didn't bind up near as fast as the yellow ones. Must be the extra thickness of the powdercoating (or whatever it is) on the yellow ones.

Alright, thanks a lot. I just needed to be reassured. Others have used them with success, so when I saw them for $85 I figured might as well get better springs for $15 more than I could get the LS6s for.

I'm not sure how I feel about the current 918's. Maybe the PAC's but regarding the spring being too much, nada. The 918 spring pressures do very well.
