9in problems...

9in problems... I installed a 9in in my car a couple months ago and have not been able to drive it, it is blowing fluid all over my wheels out of both axle ends... I made sure the breather hole and everything was functioning properly and it was... Does anyone know what's going on with it? It's also vibrating really bad, I had the driveshaft legthened and that fixed the viberating problem for a while, then were took it out and put it back in the exact same way and now it's vibrating again... Any ideas would help, thanks...

I can see the bearing ms and they seemed fine, but there are no seals, the guy that built it for me said it didn't need any or some crap, is that true? I don't know much about them, and I filled it up until it started to pour out of the filler whole like I have always don't on my 10 bolt... Bout to get rid of it and put a 10 bolt back in... I have no sway bars anymore and can't control the car over 70mph... I dot know how to rig a rear sway bar now
There should be an ID o-ring at each end of the housing where the axle/bearing slides in. Make sure these are in good shape, not twisted, cut or damaged. Also make sure to put a light layer of oil on the bearing and inner bore were the o-ring is when reinstalling and tap the axle in with a rubber mallet. If you have the housing properly vented, the o-rings in place and proper amount of fluid in the rear you should have no leakage.
What do you have your pinion angle set at? Are the u-joints in good shape?

My Axle Seals were leaking, but I think it was cause I over-filled it..
I had to use 3" U-bolts from a Truck to mount the Sway Bar. I had to cut-down the Straps to go on the stock car Bushings..you can see them in the pic here..
Look into doing it that way, the Sway Bar is good to have.

Well the oil seems to actually go through the bearing itself, on both sides, idk what else to try, I have already tried the silicone and oring and have had no luck... And thanks for the pic of the sway bar! That'll help alot! And u joints and everything is brand new... Hope I can figure out what's wrong, haven't go to race my car and made a pass for about 2 years now because of these problems...

Call moser and get the part number for the internal seals. I have the oring style bearings which are designed to not need the internal seals but I'm running both for that reason. My axle seals do seep from time to time when I drive long distances but I've learned to deal with it.
be careful installing the seals cause they get distorted very easily because you have drive them 6 or so inches into the axle tubes.
As mentioned, I would double check your pinion angle. If it has too much of a negative angle it will stress the rear universal joint. Pull the drive shaft and see if the joint moves in all directions freely.

I'm running a Moiser 9" in my 94 Z28. My axle bearings use the OD O ring on the bearing plus the axle seals. The seals are fairly close to the end of the axle housing ends so a thin bodied seal must be used. I run a Timken 473228 seal. Hope this helps.

Thanks that's very helpful, I'm getting that seal tomorrow, do you have a part number of the od ring? Or what size it is so I can order that to? My rear end has neither of these in it, not an o ring or a seal...
You would need new axle bearings in order to obtain the o ring as it's part of the bearing. It may not be worth spending the the 150-200 to have new bearings pressed on. I would just install the seals mentioned above and just silicone the bearing into the housing.
