Default Fuel Gauge Off

Im not sure about you guys, but my stock fuel Gauge almost never gives me a right reading. It does not fluctuate very much but it still does. I left her running while I fueled her up the other day and after the needle pegged out at full It still took another 15$ to completely fill her up. I searched but couldn't come up with what I was looking for. Is there a cheap way to fix this problem?

The problem lies in the v-shape of the tank. The float only measures the fuel level, so there's more at the top than there is at the bottom. The top 1/2 of the fuel gauge is actually 3/4 of the tank, so it will always take more to reach FULL.

Even when Im below 1/2 a tank the readings are still off. Say I start up the car, drive for 30min It will read that I burned through way more fuel then I should have. Turn the car off, come back 30+min later. Start it up, and the reading is right were it should be. Like I said, its not really enough to make a difference. But its still enough to annoy the **** out of me.

mine has been off since I pulled the sending unit out of it. My only explanation is that I must have tweaked the arm that the float is attached to and now my guage reads high all the time. I just fill it at half tank and never really worry about it. I dropped the tank to change mine so I do not feel like going through all of that again just to bend the float arm. If I cut a trap door now it seems like all the blood, sweat, and tears that I put into dropping the tank the old fashion way will be for nothing
