1995 LT1 camaro
got the car about 6 months ago and now im having issues with it. 1995 z28 camaro. Can anyone help me out? i am having problems with low oil pressure when i am stopped at a light/stop sign and i hear a ticking but not all the time? could that be a lifter?
low coolant light comes on at random times but the level is good. air in the coolant system? no clue.
alright thanks

how low is low? Check it with a mechanical gage before you assume it's low. LT1's tend to run low oil pressure with higher milage.
Ticking? lifter maybe but check the oil level and quality first.
Low coolant sensor, if it is not low go buy a new sensor and replace it or ignore it.

The oil pressure gauge may be inaccurate. Most of the LT1 ones are. Check you oil, if its full, check around, it may be an exhaust leak??
The coolant light, just unplug the sensor, its mounted to the radiator, right next to your battery, just unplug it, you could put a new sensor in, but it will go bad in due time, they get corrosion on them, causing the light to go on.

my buddy told me to try and run a heavier weight oil. will that help with the ticking? i was changing it as soon as all this snow melts.
oil pressure is less then 1/4 on the gauge when stopped and then when i accelorate it goes to 1/2, i have 97,000 miles on it.

You can try that, I know alot of LT1 are "noisy" not sure how bad yours is, but a heavier oil may help. Try it and see if that does the trick.
As far as the gauge, thats about what mine is at. you can run a aftermarket gauge and go from there, Im going to get an Autometer one here this spring.

At cold start it should be around 60-30psi.
Its normal to go low when its running hot at idle around 10-15psi.
Those coolant level sensors are know to do that. If your coolant level is fine then its probly bad sensor.
