383 cam clerance question

Default 383 cam clerance question

will i have a cam clereance problem with 5.7 i beam rods with comp 292xfi cam its on comps normal base circle. since i already have the cam in my locked lt1. do mahine shops normaly clearence the rods or is there only problems with h beams. im guessing this cam will work good in a 11.5 compression 383 and bring the power band down to 62-6400rpm.

it all depends on what rod you are using, some require more clearancing than others. The machine shop will clearance them while they are balancing the rotating assembly. Some machinists actually prefer you buy rods that are NOT supposedly stroker clearanced that way they can get the weights a little bit closer during the clearancing process.

The only way to know for sure is to check.

As for the peak power, it is going to be higher than that.

with the 5.7's i would think not but the only way to be sure is to check......

great cam i have it in my new 396 but the power band endsat 6900, best converter you can go with is a 3800 just an fyi.

As for the rods and clearence call comp they will tell you specifically what will work and wont.

Also, word of advice make sure you have a forged crank in that beast
