355 help
ok i was thinking of going with a
stock crank
6" scat forged rod
mahle power pak pistons
le2 heads and cam
arp main studs and head bolts
a few of my questions are
should i have the block decked if so how much? I want to stay around11,5:1 compression
what would be a good oil pan to run or should i keep the stock pan, also what should i do for a oil pump?
what series of clevite bearing should i use?
anyone have a simalar setup that can give me some insight?
if you have a 355 setup please post what you have and your ETs and RWHP #s
thanks in advance for any info also if you have any part numbers for me please list them
If you want higher compression look at the Mr. Gasket Head Gaskets for an LT1 as well...they are the best for compression unless you wanna pay 100 a damned gasket from Cometic. The Mr Gaskets are .026 thickness and 4.100 Bore. They are what I use.
Keep the stock Oil Pan and Stock Oil Pump...they are fine, just tack weld the pickup to the pump so it doesnt fall off (LT1's are notorious for that). I have pics if you need.
I have almost the same setup, just stock replacment pistons and rods, not mahle's and scats, and my cam is a custom grind.
I will have ET's and RWHP numbers sometime within the next week and a half
as far as decking the block goes you need to take into consideration the combustion chamber cc's the volume of the valve reliefs as well as trying to get your quench distance to ~.040. Some people run the quench a little tighter than that but on a street motor all the research I have done has always led me to ~.040 quench. So I guess if we are going to help you out we need to know the volume of your combustion chambers
