Default Oil pressure question

Hey guys, I got my tune loaded and started driving my 97 A4 camaro with the 383 I built and I have a question about the oil pressure. I am using a Brad Penn sae 30 breakin oil, The pump is a melling M55. When the engine is cold and I start it, she runs 40psi. As it warms up and the idle drops the pressure drops to 20psi. when it is up to temp and at idle in gear it drops to about 15 to 10psi. All of this is on the factory gage and I am going in a few min to get a mechanical gage to double check. I stopped driving it as well untill I verify what the actuall is. It is not a HV pump and I know I( have had several of thses LT1's that seem to run in that range on the dash gage, but I just don't know if this is where it needs to be or not. Oil is full and I have checked the dip stick with the engine running to make sure there is still oil in the pan while it is running and it reads about 1/2 to 3/4 low when the engine is running and is full after sitting off for 3 min. Let me know what you think and where I need to look if it is a problem.

the first thing I'd do after you verify your pressure with a real gauge is replace the oil pressure sending unit.

sounds normal bro. Oil pressure should drop once it warms up at idle. As long as it goes up when you press the gas your good.

As long as you have 6psi at idle and 10psi for every 1000rpm, you're fine.

ok thanks for the info you guys. 10 pre 1000 rpm.
Went and got a mechanical gage, put it on and as soon as it fired up I saw some crap come up the tube. I shut it off before it reached the gage and then disconected the tube and restarted the car with the tube in a cup, got the crap out of the line and hooked back up the mechanical gage. I was at 50psi start and with rev's up to 70 to 75psi. I think it's ok but I am going to go drive and see what happens. I thought I cleaned those fittings real good but guess not. Hopefully it was just clogged. I let you know what it does in a bit.
