Sure. Lots of things come into play. Tire choice, road condition, etc.

Wear and tear The person that owned the car before me did not take car of the engine very well. I have been going through hell replacing and rebuilding the engine to make it run right before I start doing bolt ons.

My BONE stock 97 Z28 A4 with 97k miles spins and chirps going into 2nd @ WOT. It does on occasion chirp going into 3rd. This is with almost new Goodyear Eagle F1s.

I beat the **** out of a stock lt1 for years 94k and when I tore that engine down the cyliders still had the original cross thatch from factory bore and hone. Cams a roller so the cam is not loosing anything. I barked the tires hitting second (A4) with brand new 275 on the back. Trans was worked with a shift kit but engine was still stock.

hell before I got the wheels and tires I would hit second and it would just light those 245's up. Almost lost it a couple of times.

I am just hoping that all the time and money I am putting in to this is going to be worth it. So far everything is coming together good putting the last replacment part on this weekend. I have put new lifters, push rods, rocker arms, had the heads completly redone because the last owner put the head gaskets on upside down, and new trans last owner put the new filter and retainer ring on top of the old retainer ring so the filter was on the pan. New TPS, IAC and water pump.
