Default 93 camaro Lt1 - headers

I'm wanting to put some aftermarket headers on my 93 Camaro Z28. The headers I am looking will eliminate the EGR, but they will still use the O2 sensors. I plan on capping off the all the EGR system, but i was wondering if this would throw a check engine light or not? What all could it effect or harm? And can the headers cause my O2 sensors to throw an engine light? I also have the hypertech chip in it if that makes any difference. I've been wanting to do this for awhile but I just want to make sure it wont cause any problems. Any tips are helpful. Thanks.

It shouldn't throw any codes. Either way i would suggest to get a good tune for the car and stay away from that hypertech

I personally just sent my pcm to SpeedInc when I had them adjust for my 3.73 gears, shift points, and they deleted the AIR/EGR codes so the car runs perfectly fine now that I have LT headers and capped off the EGR.

I put 3.73 gears also. How much does that usually cost you to send it in and have them chip it? and why stay away from hypertech? mine seems to have worked well for the past 3 years...

For the chip for the 93 it's about $150. I wouldn't use the hypertech beacuse you don't really get any performance out of it you can use it to adjust for gears and tire but it doesn't really do much more then that

Awesome. Thanks for the tip. Im also looking into doing a m6 swap. Will this require any computer chips or similar ECM changes? I always see info about 94-97 m6 swaps but never 93...whys this. Are 93's more or less difficult to swap?

I think it was around ~$150 for mine shipping there and back. Somewhere around there. My car runs excellent however I had to have the guy from ebay send me an egr block off plate (mine came with egr but no air? wtf) and egr block off plates for the intake manifold.

I'm not sure as far as 93 t56 swaps. I'd say just to stick with the auto, but I prefer drag racing. A M6 would be nice for cruising and playing around in

O Im still gonna drag race it. Yeah I know what you mean, but i want to launch at real high RPM's and I want it to be my daily driver so i dont want to mess with a 4000rpm stall converter all around town. Know what im saying?

I have a Yank SS3600 (SS = Super Stock) and it drives perfectly fine around town. Obviously with an auto, you lose a bit of gas mileage. But like I said, it drives just like stock
