Default new setup help

well here's the thing, i have been planing to cam my lt1 for the longest time now and i have begun to gather all the parts... i have a friend with a brand new AI custom grind full billet cam, he wants to sell me for 300 dollars... as of now i need : cam, lifters, push rods, and i assume a timeing chain because i dont want to tear my engine apart again.... on top of that i need a stall and front pump for my th350... i have about 400 bucks now... what would be the best bang for buck combo....
my valve springs will hold up to .600 lift, and i was looking into a cc306 cam, then was thinking about his custom grind... i found a few cam/lifter kits with 306 cam, so i thought i might be able to kill two birds with one stone there. then get the pushrods..... if anyone has ANY suggestions without "ls swapping" it like i hear daily i'd liek your input....

Sure it wasn't "Ai 230 / 238 - .575/.575" ?

That cam is intended for use in a 6 speed car, it's pretty big for stock shortblocks. Here's a listing of their cams.

I would wait till I've decided on what stall I'll be using then see what they recommend. Just my 2 cents.

i'm useing a 3800 stall, i have my list of parts, made up, just need money..... 3500-3800 rpm... i asked the guy with the cam... does a custom grind improve performence that much? if it did turn out to be that 230/238 .575 .575 110 lsa cam, i could expect more power than a 306 cam? what is the benefit of full billet? he said it spins faster making it more efficent. true?

for that money you can get a custom cam shipped from lloyd for your vehicle or pick up a proven off the shelf cam for a little less. a custom cam is only worthwhile if it's made for your setup, that's a pretty healthy size cam for stock heads/cubes
