Default **** helpppp with conversion!! ***

i have a 97 trans am ws-6 that im trying to put a vortec 355 that i built 2 years ago in it.. my question is can i take a TPI intake manifold and run the LT-1 style sensors and throttle body on it so i can utalize the stock wiring harness and computer? if not what can i do to make the LT1 intake manifold bolt up onto the vortec heads, they are procomp 2.02/1.60's cnc'd and have the dual bolt pattern for both the 1st and 2nd gen small blocks so i can bolt either intake style up but i'd like to utalize my stock LT1 parts and computer. thanks!

Sounds like a messy hybrid build to me full of issues to work out, like the accessories, manifolds, etc. Not worth it IMO. I'd sell the 355 and pick up an LT1-based block.

Yeah it would be much easier to sell that motor and get one that is made to work in the car

The only real issue you have is a distributor. Currently there isn't one that produces the same signal that the opti does. Aside from that all the other sensors will work provided that are put in appropriate spots. The typical SBC does not differ all that much from the LTx platform. If you can find a way to make the optical sensor in the opti function then you will have no issue with using the stock computer. Infact all the accessories should bolt up provided you have an appropriately spaced crank pulley. Maybe look into EFI connections LSx computer swap and run it with the TPI/Vortec cam sensor. That would make your life a little easier aside from the additional cash outlay.

My thoughts exactly just run a carb that will be the easiest way to get it driving! If EFI is a must the OPTI is going to be the only real issue with running a GEN 1 SBC.

Vortec single plane, intake fuel rails, throttle body and the Ls1 pcm conversion will be the only route other than to place a dinosour on top!
