Big Ends?
He had a couple of head studs snap off on the drivers side and because of this the stock exhuast manifold was blowing quite bad, but otherwise it ran great with almost 40psi oil pressure at idle and 60psi at WOT.
He had the head removed at a local garage who drilled and tapped the heads for new studs and then it was all put back together - no other changes or performance mods added.
After picking up the car he thought something wasn't quite right. Performance was down.
Whilst out driving the oil pressure suddenly dropped down to about 20 (never hit zero) and the engine began to clank.
He immediately stopped and had car trailored to his house and then later it was transported to the same garage that did the head work. They have diagnosed a big end failure.
My question is this: Could the garage have done something that caused the failure or was it just bad timing that it happended the day after he collected it from them?
If you think they messed something up - then what?
Any advice or long-range diagnosis you can offer would be good.
Thanks
