93 to 94-97 lt1 differences
I have a lt1 out of a 93 ta it has the 700r4. Im putting it into my 95 camaro. Im new to the lt1 and just looking for the difference between 93 and up lt1s. I know 93 has the body mounted air pump the 700r4 and the fuel rail crossover is in the back and the 93s dont have the air line that goes across the front of the engine, but i also heard the 93s are batch fire is that true? I would really like to know the differences in the optispark and if its possible to swap a vented newer one on. Also since its a 93 auto it has a tv cable so what throttle bodies work on this engine? My camaro is for the track only so im not worried about the air pump or egr their blocked off since the headers have to fittings.
93's are speed density not MAF. they are batch fire. The ECM uses a "Chip". The Opti is specific for 1993 and late 1994 IIRC. It has a small spline shaft that drives it not a pin like the other models and is non vented. You can convert them to vented or go with a MSD unit like I did. Conversion to a OEM Vented opti will require a new cam, timing cover, and the opti itself.
I cant tell you about the TB cause my car is a manual and i was able to bolt on a BBK 52mm. I know the Fuel Pressure Regulator is specific to 1993. I just put one in. check out speeddensity.org. There is a lot of 1993 specific info there.

oil pressure sending unit on 93's are located above the oil filter (on some 94s and on all later years they are on the rear china wall)

So is this an auto or six speed car? The 93 LT1s had the old style "screw in" IAC where they have a threaded opening on the IAC plate and it screws in to it. The 94+ LT1s they went to bolt in style, so the IAC actually just bolts the plate rather then screwing in to it, which I think is a little nicer. So.... unless those few parts include the correct IAC plate OR you have the later style pig tail and convert over to the 94+ IAC, then your o.k. I never did it but you can wire the newer style pig tail in to your 93s harness. So if you have a six speed car, change the IAC and your good to go, it'll work just fine. But if the cars an auto, it won't work at all because it doesn't have the hook up for the shift detent cable (Kick Down, TV).

Welcome to the wonderful world of Speed Density. On the bright side, the intake manifolds for the 92-93 LT1s is considered to be the best as far as flow due to the cross over being behind the manifold and not creating an obstruction right behind the TB opening.
Have you visually compared a 93 intake to a 94+?
