Default how many people have a spool?

and actually drive it on the street?

are their advantages or disadvantages to this?

how is it while driving, turning or even racing?

thanks

I have a spool, but I havn't got my car back on the road yet to drive it. Do a search in the drag racing forum, theres lots of info that will answer all of your questions.

Depends on the tires, I personally wouldn't want to drive a spool car after doing so for about 15 minutes. If your not concerned about a little shake though when turning around go for it.

With my 17s on it sucks. It rattles the car when you are doing slow tight turns, for example pulling into a parking space. With my drag wheels on it's noticeable that there is a spool in it, but it doesn't rattle the car or bother me at all.

I was looking into getting a Detroit Locker but from what I hear about them (especially with a stick car) my spool is less annoying than a locker would be. I have 35 spline axles in my 12 bolt and a Detroit Locker is my only option for any kind of differential, so spool it is.

I run a full spool myself. With slicks and an automatic it really isn't that bad, but the T56 guys might suffer a bit in tight turns. Driving in wet weather is a definite no-no as well. It's not my daily driver, but I do take it out once a week or so and it's not bad. For what it is (and what it does for the car) it's worth it, IMO.

mine wasnt even that bad with the 6 spd but i always ran on bias ply tires so that may have had something to do with it

^Is it a lot worse than a 3/4 spool?

Just my opinion on the wet weather, it's in the tires not the differential. Sure a posi might be a little better because it will let the wheel speeds differ, but with my WS6 wheels and Nitto drag radials my car is totally fine in the rain going 70 on the interstate. Now on the other hand if I drove with my bald ET street radials or a set of slicks, it's going to be horrible no matter what differential I have in there.

I ran one for a few years on the street and my car isn't my daily driver. It depends on what you want out of the car. If you’re into drag racing and just put around on the street it would be fine. I got tired of it real quick as trying to park in a tight parking lot was a bitch. I also got funny looks from people when I would take a sharp turn (like in a parking lot) and one of the rear tires is scratching and jerking. Most of my passengers would be like "what the hell is that? Is your car OK?" I changed to a tru-track because I hardly went to the track, I know it isn't as strong but it drives much better which fit my needs better.

I get the same reactions from people in parking lots, and passengers that don't know what a spool is LOL. They think the car is broken.
