Calling All Opti Experts!!!!
I am calling all opti experts!! I have just tuned my car and it is worse!! It has a dead miss at 2000 rpms when driving and when you accelerate it has a bad labor knock??? It seems as if the timing is off?? Could I have the distributor 180 out??
Yes, slid right on with no resistance. But is there a way to do that 180 out?
It also surges when it idles and you can hear the labor knock then as well??
You may see this car in the classified section soon!!!!!

some information about your car would help... alot
the idle could be a vacuum leak, check real good
cant really help with anything else because we dont know anything else about the car, or the mods done to it

Stock!, I installed an msd cap and rotor, waterpump, MSD coil and New wires. I drove it today and it rus decent, just has that low end bucking and when I stopped the exhaust smelled like rotten eggs! Oh yeah, it labor knocked like crazy under acceleration. as far as mods, none except air foil.
I'm no opti expert, but I do also have a '94, and I've swapped my opti three times. With the keyed gear drive, I don't think you can screw up installing it. If I were you, I'd be double-checking that my wires are on correctly.

I think I might know what's going on... I just re-read this, and I remembered when I put an MSD cap/rotor on my opti, that's when I had my first "opti-experience"... The drive pin on my opti was a touch too long for the MSD cap/rotor kit. The rotor was grinding into the cap, and the car ran like crap until eventually, it went KABOOM, and I ended up going back to the Opti to check things out...

^^^ There's what happened!!!
I'd check that opti out again, if you're sure your plugs wires are on right...
Oh, and I went back to a stock AC Delco Opti, and have had no issues since...

I honestly can't say... When mine went, it was running like a champ for about 10 miles, then literally starting bucking like a horse, backfiring, misfiring, Kabooming, etc for about 5 seconds, then dead...
Be positive about the whole thing... By the end of it all, you'll be swapping opti's like a pro.

im pretty sure some oil got on it from my crank hub.. GL on finding the problem. but my guess is on the opti inside the cap the rotor cant go on 180 out it has a peg and only sits flush on the cam reluctor disk, an opti install is all about cleanliness and precision installation , you must locktite all bolts dress/seal all gaskets replace worn seals on distributor or surrounding area to have the best experience from the tune up. my last opti failed because the *** that did it before me did none of this and it lasted about 3 months then the rotor screws backed out...i really enjoyed the learning experience. i am actively pursuing the efi24x conversion tho....
