Default TCS Delete Question

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to replace the annoying TCS (GM calls it ASR) motor that mounts on the intake manifold studs and hangs above the left valve cover. I know that to do this I need a non-TCS throttle cable. I've got a couple questions for people that have done this before. My car is a '97, and since I've heard the dealer doesn't carry the '97 non-TCS cable, would a pre-97 cable still work? I've read they are the same just a different p/n.

Also, for those who have done this what needs to be done? I cant find anything in the Haynes manual, nor can I find any writeups. It looks like there is a 3 pronged plastic barb on either side of the cable at the firewall, do these tabs just get pushed in behind the firewall? And how do I disconnect the cable from the accelerator pedal?

Any input anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

yeah you can use a pre 97 cable as long as it is off a f-body that didnt have TCS. fairly easy swap. Only hard part is clicking those things through the firewall. Your ABS inop light will come on also once you delete the TCS. brakes will still work normal you just wont have ABS.

To keep ABS buy a resistor, I used a 3.7 ohm. Wire it into the plug you remove from module this will fool computor and keep lite off.
