Tranny slipping

if the tranny is slipping in 3rd what is wrong with it what do i need to buy to fix it i have the tranny under warranty for free labor i just need to buy the parts its a 4l60e

If it's under warranty, I'd assume you'd take it back to the place that built it. Or am I missing something? Isn't that how warranties work?
