Did you bleed the cooling system after you took everything apart?

What codes are you getting? You should have it scanned.

Could be sensor related but not be the sensor itself. Could be corroded pins in the connector or an open in the wire. I believe the temp sensor in the wp is what the pcm references directly to turn the cooling fan on and off.

And +1 on the bleeding. LT1 cooling systems are a little tricky to bleed, and trapped air can form pockets in the water jacket preventing coolant from circulating properly.

Did you change the coolant temp sensor or the temp switch??? The sensor is on the pump and the switch is on the driver side cylinder head..They both are very similar just with different plug ins. But if your fans don't kick on more than likely it will be an electrical issue(fuse or on the wiring circuit)

They are both coolant temperature sensors, not "switches"...

check shbox.com to find out how to bleed it. Your problem is most likely coming up, becuase you haven't bled the air out of the cooling system. I've had this issue every time I've changed WP's, or Opti.

i had an overheating problem on my 97, it happened to be a seized AIR pump and it was blowing the fuse for the fans so it would never come one, once i unplugged the pump and replaced the fuse the fans kicked on like normal and my overheating problem went away. A teacher i had in school told me those pumps are good at filling with water and seizing up. Give that a try and see what happens.
