Non forged 383?

Default Non forged 383?

Hey guys, my motor is currently being built and I had a question about running a non forged 383. Current plan is to run a 355 with Mahle pistons (stock replacement but for the right bore), GMPP rods with resized rod bolts and stock crank. Cam is a comp 236/242 .557/576 112+4. Would the pistons/rods hold up fine with the longer stroke? Or should I just stick with a 355?

It might see occasional track time, mostly street use. I'm asking if it can be done safely because I have never heard of anyone doing this

IMO, if you're not going to put anything other than a forged crankshaft in a 383, there's no need to go with a 383.

I completely agree. Theres no point in doing all that machine work and putting in a cast crank.

yes i have seen it done with 0 problems with daily driving and some racing mixed in providing 6 inch rods are used. stock type pistons should be fine for N/A purposes. just consider if you are doing it to say you did and have a little fun or if you plan on beating it to death before you make any more decisions.
