Default Raced the car last night!!!!

Had a freakin blast! It was at our local 1/8th mile track which is typically .1-.15 slower than the other tracks (it's uphill slightly in 2 spots). I ended up running in "mod" class which is 0-9.10secs without electronics (delay boxes, etc). I could have ran "top" class which is 0-7.99 but the tech guy recommended that I didn't. I short shifted it into 3rd because the tranny has been giving me problems and it ran pretty damn good considering. I ran a 7.35, 7.34, 7.31, 7.30, 7.30, all around 93.5-93.8mph. I can get another 100lbs out of it and I have a new tranny on the way with a brake and a lower 1st gear to get the car moving faster. I'd love to run a 6.99 N/A with my stock shortblock. You don't see too many LT1 cars doing that. They had 2 jet cars there and 2 wheelstanders also. The jet cars were insane but the wheelstanders were so-so. One was pathetically slow the other was a BEAST! The faster wheelstander ran mid 5's on the rear tires! All in all my class had about 80 cars in it (at least), Top class had about the same, street class had maybe 30, bikes/sleds had about 20, Quick 16 had a low 5 cutoff, and there were several doorslammers in the mid/high 4's. Just a HUGE turnout.

Oh, on my way to the second round the cool tech guy informed me that I would be disqualified for not having a cage, driving suit, and an extinguisher in my car. OOPS! I will get that addressed soon though. Here's a few pics:

The guy right behind me is the car I ran in the first round:

You can see my car if you look close. Look at the yellow car in the left side, then there are 3 white cars, then mine. This is early in the line-up for the 1st round of "mod". The lanes are 4 wide and about 15-20 deep at this point with more cars still lining up:

I will post up a few videos later.

Out of the box TFS 195cc heads, beehive springs, XFI 468 cam (242/248 .584/.579 on a 114). Not exactly a planned combo (long story) but i've made it work pretty good for what it is. The heads killed the compression ratio due to the bigger chambers, but it still pulls pretty hard from 5000-6900.

Sounded like a good time, some nice birds there too.

My car runs EXACTLY the same 1/8th mile ET's and MPH, pretty cool. Your looking at a 11.40-11.50 or so...

The track I'm at, Dunn Tire Raceway in Lancaster, NY, is notoriously slow though. Not REAL slow or anything, but if you run there consistently, and then head elsewhere around such as to Empire Dragway (65 miles away) you will run .1-.15 secs faster to the 1/8th. The start is ever-so-slightly uphill and it's a little uphill near the end as well. They use the front stretch of a 5/8's mile oval as the dragstrip. I'd expect a 7.15-7.20 1/8th and possibly a 11.30ish 1/4, in the same conditions at Empire dragway, but I HAVE to get a cage now, lol. There goes another 45lbs added. Hopefully the new tranny will do its thing for me!

I hear ya, there's some tracks like that down here in PA. I have to get a cage now too, just so much damn money to get a cage, jacket, extinguisher, harnesses etc. etc. but oh well. I'm hoping to hit some bottom 11's as well come winter time at Atco, I always race at Maple Grove which is a good track but not the quickest. Good luck with it, I'm interested to see how far you can get with the setup.

Our cars are so similar, lol. I really want to hit a 6.99 in the 1/8th. That is a goal for this year. I'm thinking some good air (it was 103 on the track), and my new tranny w/brake should get me damn close! If I would have went 1 more round I probably would have dropped into the 7.25 range. The 3rd round ran after the sun fell, and the temp dropped a good 10 degrees, and the track dropped 25 degrees. I will yank the carpet, the passenger seat/bracket, console, and about 10lbs of crap off the nose to do it. I never planned on taking a stock shortblock this far, but it has been so good to me, that I don't want to give up on it yet. I have all of the tubing purchased for a cage. Of course I bought chromoly because i'm **** about adding ANY weight to the car, lol. We need an SFI 3.2a/1 jacket, a little extinguisher and bracket, not a big deal, but the cage will add 45 even in chro-mo.

I'm usually pretty good on the tree, don't know what happened on that one. It felt like a good light when I left but obviously it wasn't. The 1st round race I won with a .535 light and ran a 7.30 on a 7.28, so that was pretty good. I also had a .4959 red light in eliminations too. Too bad I can't race anymore til I get a cage, unless I want to sandbag and dial a 7.5, but I hate doing that stuff.
