Same transmission, just non-electronic. Also called the 4L60. I like it better because it doesnt require tuning for changes such as rear gears and stuff.

It will last just as long as any other 4L60E. Since you don't list your mods no one can tell you how long it will last. On a stock car it can last the life of the car.

It really depends if it is a 700r4 or a 4l60. They are the same but different. 4l60's use slightly tuffer parts than a 700r4 did. but they still break so if it is a 700r4 I'd worry a tad more but if its the 4l60 then a little less. If you make power it will need to be built. The stock clutch packs and sunshell are weak. they can go in either. Check out someone like preformabuilt for a fix to this problem once you figure out what kind of setup you want to do on the heads and cam.

alright, well so far i have fullbolt ons, but i would love maybe to make around 400rwhp/tq on a stock bottom end, this probably wont happen but if i can do it, isnt it just cheaper to rebuild the tranny with an upgrade kit rather than buying a brand new one?

even with a little more than stock power, at high mileage that auto is gonna give you problems.

I'll have to disagree with you IF the transmission has been taken care of/properly maintained. The 4L60 is a BEAST if it's properly taken care of.

It absolutely is, but we don't know much information about his situation. Maybe this motor/tranny swap was done recently with a low mileage, well taken care of tranny-not saying it's probable, but it's more than possible. I woudn't just assume what he has is junk. Hard to tell though...
