Default SCAT i-beam rods

So i was looking at some I beam rods for my 355 build and i was wondering, why are they so cheap? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-25700/ these in particular. They are the forged version and everything. The summit magazine states they'll handle like 700hp, i'm just wondering why they are so cheap. Anyone used these or have any info on them?

Edit: Also these are with a cap screw but is offered with a thru-bolt. Which would be stronger and better for higher rpm?

I bought my scats (I went 6") from flatlander a few years back and they've held up to daily use...every datalog hits 7K and on one it hit 7158. (If I remember correctly the 7/16" bolt version was not much more money.)

Never used them in a LT or LS before, but from my experience in BBC's.....SCAT I beams with the capscrews are awesome rods. Plenty strong and reasonably light. Like mentioned above, I would get the 7/16" versions unless it will cause a clearance issue. I don't understand how Eagle sells any of it's 5140 steel stock replacement looking rods with through bolts for similar money when these are 4340 and use capscrews?

When you compare them to others similar like Eagle SIR's they are pretty good. Scat cranks have had a history of breaking here and there but the rods dont seem to get complaints.

I've been running the 7/16 version of those rods for several years now. Shifting @ 7k the whole time too. No probs or complaints from me.

I have used Scat cranks and rods for year and have never seen one break. Maybe a cast, but never a forged crank. Can't say that for Eagle and many other budget lower ends. Their machine work is always dead nuts. My 383" has seen 9000 multiple times. My little 350", 8500 all the time.
