Hand brake light always *ON*
Quick on.My friend is searching why his e-brale light is always ON.
We have tried my ebrake switch since my car doesnt have this problem but it doesnt go away.We also saw that even with the switch connector unplug the light remain ON.While mine is off when i unplug the connector.
So where should we look.
Thanks

Check your ignition switch, try rattling it and see if the light goes out. I had this SAME problem on my sisters golf a few weeks ago. It turned out to be a worn ignition switch, when I turned the key forward light went off. Different car ya but same problem.
Hope this makes sense.
let us know what you find.

Ive done some search and saw that this light came on only for two reason:
-Because your ebrake handle is up (obvisous )
-the sensor is in the lines, sometimes integrated into the proportioning valve and when pressure on one side exceeds pressure on the other side it basically used the pressure to push a switch that cuts off fluid to the side that is loosing pressure and sends a signal to the little bulb that tells you there is a brake problem
on our rear wheel drive cars, one side of the switch is pressure for the front brakes and the other side of the switch is pressure for the rear brakes
i would think that if the car stops fine, (or so you think), then you probably lost pressure in the rear brake lines
thats if that is the problem
Ill check that and the ignition switch
which means maybe a wheel cylinder is bad or brake lines are rotted (unless u have the disc brake rear end, then the caliper may be bad)
