Not to get off topic but... I am almost done getting my cam only car together. I've never done any drag racing but i was thinking about coming to the shootout if i can get a few passes in before hand. What class should i run. Index? bracket? Or should i just stay out of the way til next year ha?

Come on out, your cars Et and mods will dictate what class you run in. Go to the shootout's site for class rules. There will be a great group of people to ask and teach you how to race. You may want to go hang out a your closest track over the next few weeks to get an understanding of the basics though. The last 2 years have been a blast with a varity of LTX cars and a wealth of "in person" knowledge no internet BS! I'm registered and can't wait for this years event, I still haven't had my car to the track this year. Even if it's not in race condition I'll still be there to support the event and talk to everyone.

Well guys it looks like I probably wont make the shootout.

I just got a call to go work the oil spill, 7-12's for who knows how long. The car has issues that I am tracking down but......alas it will all have to be put on hold until I can make this bank.

It will be put on stands, Sta-Bill in the tank, and a cover over it.

Hell by the time its over I will probably sell the car, I want to go road racing. HPDE and Trackdays etc.

The beaches over in Biloxi seem to have faired better. They have a ring of barrier islands that protect them a little better.

I will be doing insurance adjusting for the spill, paying out of the BP fund to people out of work.

Ah I see. Yeah I heard Biloxi was in a little better shape than Gulf shores/Ft Morgan. I would just change up and head for Biloxi...but we reserved a beach house thats been paid for since Feb, and its non-refunable, so Gulf Shores it is.

Thanks, I'm sure we will have a blast regardless. I've been down there in years past, and I agree it is a beautiful area.

I am registered for bracket again and going to run in the index class this year. Bought another truck this year to pull the car to the track. Now I need to find a trailer.

Check out the class rules on the Shootout's site but probably index or bracket.
