Default My Radiator Support Mod...

I got real tired of how high up the radiator sits in my camaro. The other night i had thought about lowering the bottom radiator perch. Ive never seen anything like that done before so i wasnt to sure if i should do it or not.. Today i said F#ck it and just started cutting!

The begining

What i was going to move

2 mins later lol

New radiator channel

Test fit

Notice how the old radiator holder is a good 2-3" above where the radiator is now.

Bottom front.

All back together

I couldnt seem to get the silicone hose i had for the intake in at the right spot. To get it taken care of then and there i just ditched it and put the filter right on the maf.

Side shot

As you can see theirs still plenty of room under the car. In fact i could of brought it down alittle bit more if i wanted to.. I didnt tho because my hoses off my water pump werent going to reach

To try and give some scale to how much lower the radiators sit now

I am very pleased with how it turned out. It went relatively painless and smooth. It cleared up Alotta room in the engine bay which was an added bonus.. This is the perfect mod to do if your looking to tackle the LS1 lid.. If i wasnt so gun-ho about the CAI setup i have then id definitely do the Lid... I hope you guys enjoy

I was just sick and tired of how high up the radiators sit! Idk why GM just didnt lower them from the factory. Its not like you have less ground clearance or anything. And it does change the look of the Entire engine bay...

It looks good lowered, nice job.

However, you are going to want to put a different upper support on that radiator. The reason it is closed in at the top stock is to direct all of the incoming air through the radiator. By removing the upper portion all together, the air is going to follow the past of least resistance, namely, up and over the top of the radiator instead of through it since it still has the tilt to it. I would also fab a cover for the upper radiator support, or else you are going to lose a lot of your cooling efficiency.

Just an FYI.

Thanks! and dont worry ive already taken that into consideration. i already cut the front bumper back and cut up the front bumper support to allow straight flowing air through the bumper directly into the radiators. it works pretty damn good

It hasnt gone above ~190* and its been pretty hot in NY

Yes i did. with the front bumper cut to allow more air in (sorry no picture as of yet) and the bumper support cut like that. it allows for a straight shot for the air to go directly into the radiator. i have to move my filter back in front of my radiator where it was. it was getting so much more cold air up front
