A friend of the family wants me to help him replace head gaskets on his z. I know I can do it with the motor out of the car, but in these cars, can you pull the heads with the motor still in it? Mechanics are telling him they have to pull the whole motor out to do this. I was thinking maybe if the head bolts would not come out. Ideas? I have not looked under his hood yet... just getting an idea of the job ahead.

 

Removing the heads with the engine in the car is not a problem.

 

not a problem at all i pulled the heads a few weeks ago in the car and now the motor is out lol
