I don't see the point in running a monster valve, but 2.02/1.6 is about as big as you want to go without shrouding.

Displacement doesn't determine valve size.

To properly use 2.02/1.6 you need new seats which is money pissed in the wind. The bench racers will tell you it is worth it but when you look at the best running cars you will see smaller valves than that. Not that smaller valves are necessarily better just blindly going big as possible is wasted effort.

Agree 96. 2.00/1.56 is best for stock heads. It only requires a cheap 3-angle and a bowl cut. You can port them and get decent numbers. After that, AFR heads are a good step up.

displacement and rpm requirement definitely determine valve size and csa required. csa and valve size go hand in hand, so it depends what you're trying to do with the heads. a hollow lt4 intake valve will probably be fine for your average 383, less weight too!

stock valve seats are 2.00/1.56 and so a 2.00/1.56 fits perfect when the stock seats are machined as large as possible. 2.02/1.60 valves just place a larger valve in front of the same size hole and restrict flow over the 2.00/1.56 valves.

it's not the size that matters, it's how you use it.
