Wouldn't recommend this cam for your engine.
I had a similar cam from Bret in my 396ci engine with AI heads. Here the specs: 236/248 .570/.541 with 1.5 RR 110° LSA and 110° ICL. Very hard to get it to run below 2000 rpm even with my 396, was a fantastic cam above 4500 rpm all the way to my shift point 6600 rpm. I was using a M6 ZF trani, an A4 would be much better in regards to bucking.
I got rid of this cam and switched to a solid roller, what a difference from idle up to 6900 where I shift at. Very happy with the SR and would never go back to hyd. roller.

There is nothing similar about the 306 and the 503. To suggest both of them for his application doesn't make much sense.
I ran both in stock bottom end applications with great results...503 is a great DD cam,cc306 is about the biggest i would go with stock bottom end. never did i say the cams are similar....

I run the XFI468 (242/248 .584/.579)on a stock bottom end and mild heads. I'm running around a 11.30ish right now, based on my latest 1/8th mile times. My cam has a little more duration and lift, but is much wider 114 vs 105.5, my compression is around 9.2-1. If your heads are decent you could make it work especially since you are still over 10-1 compression. My car is pretty well setup and has a big stall, but it idles perfectly fine at 900rpm. Has great throttle response and pulls like a motherf**ker at high rpms.

weren't you looking at a 236/242 on a 112? the cam originally posted looks like a stock shortblock, stock pcm "max effort" cam, and no... a 105.5 lsa is not too wide lol. If the guy wants to run a 4.11+ gear and a 4500+ stall it'll rip.

LOL, I wish.....My car was put together as a mad scramble with what we had laying around, 3 years later it's still running good. I never tell people to duplicate what I do, but things can be made to work.

that is the cam that is going in my vette. I was asking this question for a friend...he is thinking of putting this in his 6speed formula.

I'd do it if it's not a daily driver... it's gonna want some compression to help the low end, which will also bring the powerband down a little. like I said a minimum 4.11 gear, and preferably a 4.56 gear. Any exhaust restriction is going to hurt him with that overlap. But it'll be a screamer from about 4500 and probably want a 6800 shift point. It'll probably idle around 1000 with decent (barely enough) vacuum for street driving. The more gear you throw at it the better it'll do cruising around at lower rpm.
