Default supplier info

i realize how difficult it can be at times to find good quality parts from companies that have good customer service. usually the only way one gets feedback is to post a thread and start asking. well instead of posting one thread about one item from one company i am attempting to help others by giving you all a little incite as to my experiences with some of the companies and products that ive recently purchased and/or installed. i hope this is helpful.

Tick adjustable clutch master cylinder for LT1: upon initial inspection the unit appeared to be made of plastic and in my mind i was baffled how this was gonna hold up, but then i lifted it from the box and realized it is in fact aluminum and is built very well. installation was a breeze. the inlet/outlet lines are able to clocked in any direction you like for ease of install and to help it clear other components such as the brake booster and headers. clearance from the top of it to bottom of the booster is tight, but not too difficult to install. took me roughly 15 minutes to prep it, and get it bolted in. adjustment of the pedal is moderately difficult but majority of that is due to laying upside down in the seat so you can work under the dash. we all know how that can be....

Mcleod Street Twin: initial inspection suggests that this is a quiality piece. flawless in every aspect this clutch is clearly worth the money. directions are easy to understand and installation went smooth. no issues with the clutch at all, however dealing with mcleod was not so pleasant. after my initial order was taking a while i inquired as to why and found they had discontinued their master cylinder that was supposed to be part of the complete kit and had no replacement at the moment. after learning that others had been waiting months for this master cylinder to be developed i pushed for them to cancel the master cylinder part of the order and ship the clutch to me. they finally did this but noted that they would not warranty the item because i wasnt waiting for their master cylinder. when the clutch arrived the first thing i noticed was the quality of it, the second was that they did not counterweight the flywheel like it was supposed to be. called them back and they shipped me a weight that i had to add to the flywheel. not a huge hassle, but just one more issue to add to the dealings id already had with them. clutch performs flawlessly and has very minimal chatter. keep in mind it is still being broken in.

Rockland Standard Gear Son of Tranzilla T56: Transmission is the most complete replacement ive ever seen come from any manufacturer. came with clutch fork, vent tube, all sensors, and a stock shifter already installed. these units use all brand new case, gears, and internal components straight from Tremec. transmission install was a breeze, everything fit great and have had zero issues so far. during install the only thing i had to do was trim a little over half an inch from the front of the 31spline yoke. Rockland also ships their units already dyno tested and includes 5 qts of their synchro mesh fluid. i did not use the stock type shifter instead i removed it to make way for my Pro 5.0. Rockland's customer service has also been beyond expectation. unlike many companies that once they get your money they dont want you bothering them, rockland has continued to return my emails and answer all questions as detailed as possible. often times they return my emails within a half hour. im very pleased that i chose their company.

Kooks stepped long tubes with ball socket collectors: have not installed theses headers yet, but kooks was extremely easy to deal with. they took my order and made things as painless as possible. within 2 weeks my custom built headers were at my door step and the quality is top notch. from here on out if kooks makes a header for my application they will have my business.

Mufflex: ordered a mufflex Y and 4" catback with magnaflow race muffler. again i havent installed this yet, but have seen it and am impressed with how accurately this is bent up. two of my closest friends run the same system and the ground clearance and fitment is IMO above standards. Mufflex's customer service has been extremely great and once again i will be a repeat customer.

Quick Time Inc. Bellhousing: quality of this item is extremely nice. the quality and powdercoat finish is excellent. upon my initial attempt to install i ran into issues with fitment. many said this is the best fitting bellhousing on the market, but my experience hasnt been so at this point. Called quick time and spoke with Ross and we determined that there were two different starters which came out on the Fbodies from 93-97. mine doesnt ride as close up to the block as the more common ones so i was not able to install the bellhousing at this time. determined the easiest and smartest path was just to go ahead and upgrade to a mini starter. this will mean no cone on the starter so its guaranteed to fit, and will give me a stronger starter for future high compression short block.

Strange Dana S60: Ordered from strange with 3 channel ABS, Detroit Tru-Trac Posi, and chromemoly pinion yoke. also ordered a chromemoly driveshaft at the same time. was supposed to be a 3 to 4 week turn around maximum, but took nearly 7 weeks and constant phone calls to strange. when the unit finally arrived i was thoroughly impressed. the welds were of the highest quiality with no splatters, and ever inch of the unit was nicely done. install went easy right up to the part when i went to install the driveshaft. strange missed the special pinion yoke on the rear and made the driveshaft too long to fit a standard yoke. had to have them ship me a correct one, and shipped the wrong back at their expense. they took care of it, but was still an upset considering i ordered it all at once.

I am currently still in iraq but will be coming home fairly soon. once i get home and get the rest of these parts installed ill attempt to update this post to make it more helpful. there are also other items that i own that will be going on such as suspension components and wideband AFR system. will try to do some install threads for the kooks/mufflex setup. hope this helps some of you who are pondering some of these parts.
