Problems after installing CAI

I finally had time to jack up the car and really look at it. I checked the spark plug wires and the plug on top of my coil... and no luck. I unplugged my MAF and tried running it and it still did it, although it didnt seem quite as bad. Do you guys think it could be the crankshaft position sensor??

look at the maff and u see the arrow, make sure it point to the left ( battery/ radiator cap, oil cap ) hehe just to the left. on my old camaro owner install map upside down backware, and still run great, one member here point it out when i show my engine pix he say " LOL YOUR MAFF UPSIDE DOWN ! " HEHE
If the problem started as soon as you installed your CAI, then the problem is probably coming from something you did when you installed the CAI. I don't see your opti or CPS going bad from simply installing a CAI. If that was the case, I would have gone through hundreds of optis by now. Double check your MAF is installed correctly, that all the clamps are tight, that the MAF is clean, and that your pigtail for the MAF is in good shape.

But i already checked all my connections and cleaned everything before i put it on. I just dont see how I could have messed anything up just doing a simple install like this. I think I am going to switch back to my stock intake and see if it still does it.

You really can't tell, if you bought it and it was already oiled, then you probably can rule that one out. Usually, if you over-oil it, and put it on the car too soon, it will dirty up your MAF.

I know this started getting really bad after I installed my CAI, but i kinda think i noticed signs of it earlier. (It could also be that im becoming delusional after thinking about this too much) But I remeber a few times accelerating hard and the car would kinda hesitate before it shifted. But after the install, I drove it a little harder than normal just to feel for the gains/results and thats really when I noticed the prob. So I dont want to limit it to only what i could have messed up during the install. I would just replace the CPK but those are like $60....

Update!! So i was taking everything apart to switch back to stock and try it, but when i disconnected the MAF from the k&n intake tube i noticed some oil. There was oil on the edge of the MAF by the screen and also some still on the tube. I tried taking some pics, you can kinda see the oil where it is shiny (camera phone pics)
So maybe the filter was oiled right before i bought it. If it dirtied the maf can I just clean it with rubbing alcohol or do I need a new maf???

Funny You should say that, I was on the interstate and my car died on me three times. I finally got to the shoulder where I wouldnt get hit and listened to the the engine. I heard a loud hissing sound and found that a two things were unplugged and uncapped. I put two pictures of it, the first is a close up of the part, the second is a distance view of the location. I removed the lines cause they went to a smog pump or part of the AIR stuff I took off. I def capped it off with vacuum plugs but somehow they came off. I capped them off again and it ran fine all day. The next day I had it die three times again, It just completely shuts off, and the lines are capped now. I have absolutely no idea what is wrong with this thing. Please.... anybody help me out.
