lt1 block?

i just bought a z28 with high miles and was wondering if my 4bolt main block that i have built that came out of a mid 90's truck will work in place of the lt1 block? my plains are to buy bigger center bolt heads and keep the factory tb and intake setup. i basically want to know can i use my truck shortblock and bolt the factory lt1 top end on it?

no you can not. the lt1 block is reverse cooled

+1 - There is reverse cooling and also the WP is driven by the timing chain gear vs. the belt driven of most SBC's. There's also the opti and don't forget that.

the truck block should just bolt right in as far as motormount location and i know bellhousing will. Lt1 components no, but you could use any cmallblock stuff out there, you have alot more choices than if you went with lt1. Is it a vortec?

no its pre vortec. its a 4 bolt with new cam bearings/ freeze plugs. turned crank, reconditioned rods/ flat top pistons. bored .30 with a mild summit cam.

Like stated, it will fit fine - that's not the issue. None of the LT1 specific parts will work - WP, Opti, Timing cover, heads, etc..
