PTV should be good to go.....HOWEVER,i would be concerned with retainer to to guide boss contact. there are locks that will give you added clearence +.050 for a few extra bucks.

So... leave the valves alone then. Splain the guide boss part to me. I'm dumb. I have the 8501-BSBC spring kit. Will that change anything?

Not sure what you're asking.

Are we talking the clearance between the valve stem and the ID of the valve guide?

Are we talking the clearance between the underside of the valve spring retainer and the valve guide boss with the valve fully open?

Are we talking about the clearance between the ID of the valve spring and the valve guide boss? Valve stem seal to valve spring?

Help us out here.

Jake

I honestly have no idea. Whatever 96lt1m6 was talking about. I was asking about possible ptv clearance with my 107 lsa cam and he said he'd be more worried about boss clearance with 601 lift.

The area under the retainer comes close to the top of valve guide boss at .600+ lift...
If you do not get the heads machined you should get the retainer locks/keepers that will give you .050 extra clearence..... Not a big deal to install

When you say that is that for a specific installed height? Any clue as to what height is needed for the clearance?

i think 96lt means retainer to seal clearence when at max lift. if you have stock length valves, a .600 lift cam would be close. But I think you would still be in the .100 of clearence range. even though it seems tight, clearence is clearence, not interference.

No problem bro, my machinist showed me quite a bit and i was really suprised to see how close we get to disaster when we stick large cams in motors and or run at high RPM.
