OP
This is most of what you need minus, OPTI vent kit, 95-97 OPTI cable harness, gaskets and seals.
You could also add 1.6 7/16" roller rockers, pushrods, 7/16" studs, and trickflow guideplates, but could be added later, and would have spent a little more than just buying the GM dealer stuff. You would have a newer style more complete upgrade rebuild kit. Just some info for you to ponder.

Before buying anything from your local dealer, I would shop around. Shoebox's site has some contact info for authorized GM parts distributors. My guess would be that you'll save a lot of money buying from someone other than your local dealer.

Hey:

If your getting a cam kit from AI (thats what I have) why not upgrade now to the newer OPTI as they just put the longer dowel pin in it. With the timing cover I listed for you and a newer style OPTI, IDC where you get it from,
now is the time to upgrade to the newer style OPTI and supporting parts. You have more selections of parts with the newer vented OPTI stuff as well as it is easier to find and sometimes cheaper as well.
You are going to spend the money anyway, why not step up now to the newer vented setup, that way if you keep the car and later on want to go with a LS1 EFI setup you'll have most of what you need and don't have to buy simular stuff all over again. I am just trying to give you future options, IMHO the non vented OPTI stuff is not the way to go ATT, unless you are doing an early LT1 low mile collector car (93 Pace Car, 94 VERT, 92/3 SE Vette) that you want to keep stock. One of the best mods I have done on my cars is get away from the nonvented OPTI.
Good Luck on your build

I wouldn't say "bad," but it has it's inherent disadvantages for sure. That can't really be disputed.

MSD's cap/rotor kit has a venting system if you don't want to go the route of replacing all those other parts.

Hey:

ryanosborne: i priced a delco opti at my dealership and it was 1100.00$ thats insane!
In that price range your talking a 2 ea. Dyna sparks 1 vented and 1 non vented or Even into EFI Connections 24x, LS1 coil on plug kit, price range.

PS Shbox: OP Mentioned in other thread and this one he was buying new all but the timing chain cover. He says he is wanting/getting AI Cam Kit, New GM OPTI, Stock Mech Waterpump, And GM Timing set.

Holy cow. I hope that included installation. Even then, I would buy optis, play local dealer prices, and install them all day long for $1100. You could do two per week and make a pretty healthy living.

Was $1100 an installed price, or was that for the part only?

That's crazy. I would like to think you could find it for 1/3 that price, or maybe less.

Why not get a Chandler Motorsports Opti, an CSR EWP, and a double roller timing set. It would be cheaper and as good an OPTI and better money spent than the other stock stuff from the dealer.
