Default What method to adjust rockers?

I put in a set of stock heads on my lt1 and it has a missfire, i changed the plugs and wires in the process of changing the head. I don't think it's my opti because prior to this my car ran good and only missfired because my plug wire #2 was arcing, and at the same time my #8 cylinder spark kept shooting out(this is the whole reason why i changed my heads). So back to the topic, i think i could've adjusted the rockers the wrong way, i tightened it by feel of the pushrod with the engine off of course, but someone else told me to tighten them with the engine on and listen to the ticking till' it stops, would this method also work for lt1's?

yeah it works either way. Doing it with the engine off will yield the same results(less messy and not so hot and oily). When the engine is off did you make sure you were on the compression stroke top dead center on the cylinder you were working on? and did you add preload after zero lash?

yeah i did, and haynes manual said 3/4 turn, but online it said 1/2 turn...which is correct? i did the 3/4 turn

I roll the engine over and use the exhaust open/intake close method. When the exhaust valve begins to open adjust the intake valve on the same cylinder, When the intake valve just passes max lift adjust the exhaust on the same cylinder.

this, and you will follow the firing order......1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 do all the intake valves first then do the exhaust
