mattcossel29's build thread This is a slow budget build I have been working on for quite some time now.. I figured I would just copy my build info off of another site and post it here for you guys.. I want to get a shout out to Austin (355z28) on here for all the help he has been in helping round up the parts and helping keep me motivated throughout the entire process! Anyways, here is the info: Just loading it up.. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG00025.jpg I dont have any shots of the tear down.. Because of a few setbacks I have not had the chance to make much progress on the Formy.. But here are a few teaser shots of what has been done so far! Boxes boxes everywhere :teeth: 355 LT1 with Speed Pro hyper eutectic -5cc pistons, Comp Cam cc306 grind, OEM rods with ARP rod bolts, OEM crankshaft. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...shortblock.jpg Still jackstand ballin.. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG00035.jpg Its not a pretty build but its mine and I am proud of it! Update: 9/11/10 Got my heads back.. Lightly ported stock heads milled and has Manley 2.02/1.60 valves, comp 918 springs/retainers, Comp Cams roller tip 1.6 rockers, Comp Cams Magnum OEM length push rods. Pictures with heads on motor: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0036.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0037.jpg Update: 9/20/10 Didn't get much done.. Just got the rear main seal housing, oil pan, and optispark bolted on. I did have the IM bolted on it but then I noticed glass beads from when my friend bead blasted it in the intake manifold. So I took it off and painted it.. As well as the block and oil pan. https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/...9/IMAG0061.jpg https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/...9/IMAG0060.jpg 10/1 Over all tonight was a pretty productive night. I had a few setbacks but all in all progress was made. I was finally able to clean up the intake manifold and get it put back together and bolted on. I also got the accessory bracket cleaned up and bolted it back on again. Got the motor mounts on and dropped it in the cradle. Put the stall converter in the transmission and got that bolted onto the engine. I am hoping if things go as planned it should be going in about a week! http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0065.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0064.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0063.jpg Update 10/7/10 I just buttoned things up getting ready to lift it back up into the car.. Things such as the power steering pump, ac delete pulley, throttle body, headers, fuel rails and injectors.. I also did some touch up painting to the engine bay. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0067.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0068.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0069.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0070.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0071.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0072.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0073.jpg 10/9/10 Big update! Got all the sensors and little things bolted up and the wiring harness ran, changed out my injectors, and put it in the car and got quite a various things done.. Coolant lines ran, vacuum lines, driveshaft, etc... http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0075.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0074.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0077.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMAG0078.jpg |

what about the little nova in the background? Now it is undergoing all new wiring, a cage, and a new drivetrain. It is getting a pretty stout 355 with a th400 and a dana rear end with 5.13 gears.. Pics! http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture041.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture042.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/100_0791.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...308_184001.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...308_183801.jpg |
bet its hard to drive down the track with that wheelbase. that things gotta get squirelly. |
I was just going to say, that thing looks like it will flip over backwards on the launch, then end-over on the brakes. |
Nice gasser. :) |
nice looking radiator and shroud in the wagon.. |
You guys should see the bottom of the bumper ;)... My dad actually made that shroud, he is a sheet metal fabricator and he does these sort of things for a living.. |
Nice cars....both of them. Were you running 2" fenderwell Hookers on the BBC when it was in the Chevy II ?? Are they collecting dust somewhere now? |
Hope to get a ride in it when it is done Matt! Let me know! |

looks good |
If you have not bolted that fresh painted intake down, please check under the allen head plugs on bottem of intake under the steel pan. They are 14MM allen head plugs that hold a ton of sandblasting media down there. If you did pull them good deal as im just looking out for you and your new build as I have found tons of crap down in them after porting a crank load of them. Sweet Nova also!!! |
