AC Removal Help I bought the AC bypass pulley today and will be pulling the compressor and all related components very soon.
My question is about the big black box on the firewall: How do I go about removing it? I want to keep my heat so what do I need to do to the heater hoses going to it, do they need to be cut or lengthened? I read the thread on cutting the hole behind it to allow air to enter the heater core, just want to make sure I have everything on hand to do the job without making any trips. Do I need to pull the dash to do anything? I don't mind the job, just want to make sure I'm straight on the procedure.

I removed my a/c system years ago, took out everything but left the box in the firewall, just found some plugs to block off those connections. Taking out that sectioned seemed a bit too extreme for me, didn't look like a very easy project to me.

I know it's probably super easy if there is no motor in the car but I was wondering if anyone had done it while it was still in there. The box is huge and if it was gone it would free up a lot of space for working on the car and cleaning. Anyone done it?
