Default Dumb ??? But Need Help!!!

OK please have patients... i just bought a car...i will be going to the track to find out from what i have to start from....it is a 93 z28 stock m6...i just learned how to drive standard...2 weeks to be exact...and i have no clue how to launch or burnout...can some one please help me in telling me what i have to do when at the light on the drag strip to get out of 1 lauch good (what to do with the clutch/gas...and even how to peel out)...i am ok at the other gears just have no clue what i am doing when launching ....thanks for the help...oh and any shifting tips would help alot...i planned to have my *** handed to me by my bro-in law and his 00ws6...but i would like to atleast put up a fight.

Assuming that you are going to be on a stock radial tire, it will be a lot of trial and error. For the first couple passes just take off like you normally would from a light to get a feel for the track surface and how it reacts differently than a normal street.

Then I would try leaving at higher rpm like 2k for starters. There is a fine line when your leaving hard, but not totally duming the clutch. Be carefull not to ride through first gear with the clutch still partially engaged too, that will do hell to your clutch.

Expect to run in the mid/low 14's andhave fun for gods sake. That is whats most important after all.

well i have nittos and my bro in law has slicks he is going to let me borrow...but see that is the issue how/what will i be doing to the gas when i release the clutch..ok well even if someone told me its better to find out for my self...i guess i have to get the feel of my car...thanks for the info.

burnout is not a problem, trust me, just floor it from a stand still, the engine will do the rest. As for getting a good lauch, ive put 1500 miles on my '94 M6 z and i still cant get a good lauch, it will take some work.

well i just came from the new hmr dragstrip that opened up here in northside of houston....some bad azz cars where there ...and i am going to try out my car(stock) next friday..or sat..or sun...which ever day is better for me...and yeah i need some more hands on expierence and the drag strip is the only place in my hood...where its safe from the cops to dog ur car....and legally
