removed oil cooler have a ?

were not using the oil cooler and i just want to make sure that im putting the correct piece in the right way. is it this little piece in the first pic and do i put it in the way it is in the second pic?

Yeah, it just bolts back in place. Just make sure the gasket surfaces are clean (they actually have a gasket for that).

i have the gasket. does it matter wat way the spring that let the coolant flow goes?

The only thing that is going to be flowing thru that is high pressure oil when its really cold.

Funny that they give you that in most kits, since I have never once seen or installed a gasket there on a SBC/LT1....

Even from the factory there is not one there...

I don't like the idea of a paper gasket in the oil system....even if it is pre-filter....it'll only lead to paper in the oil and then the bearings....
