replacing window motor...
replacing window motor... My DRIVER SIDE window got stuck in the down position, I'm assuming it's the window motor. It had been slow, since I've been the owner, but I never had any problems with it coming up or going down.
I lowered it all last week, and it never came back up. Period.
SO i have the door panel off, and moisture barrier off. Can I remove the window motor w/ the window stuck in the down position?
The guides I've seen, show the window in the up position?
How do I get the window to go up manually?

I don't think it matters if the window is down. If you follow the directions on the link below, once you drill out the rivets and remove the motor, you can move the window up and down freely to install the new motor. You'll probably have to prop it or clamp it in the up position to get the the new motor in.

When I reinstall the motors, I use allen head screws and those nuts that have a serrated attached washer. This type nut does not need a wrench on it and will grip the the surface it is riding on. You have to put the nuts on by feel cause you cant see a thing behind there.
so the motor's been previously replaced cuz it has screws on. I found this after drilling the 3 access holes. Problem is that the screws can't be reached especially with the window down.

It doesn't matter if the window is up or down. I have done it both ways and it is really easy either way....probably easier down.
I highly recommend doing the wire mod to the motors while you are in there (take off the end cap and solder in a wire in place of the resistor). I did this is a dead motor that was stuck down and now it works great, and I did it to a still working motor and now it is a lot faster.

The motor can be removed with the window down and then raised after the motor is out to get it out of the way (if you want).

OK, my dad finally got them out. Did not do the wire mod, as I hadn't checked into the thread. Oh well. All is well now.
Oh, wait, now that I remember, the window is not going up smoothly. It's barely noticeable, but it seems to be sputtering up. deh, deh, deh,deh. all the way up. Could it be some sort of alignment of the motor?
