you can unbolt the fuel rail and pop the injectors out of the intake BUT you will want to clean around where the injectors go into the intake other wise you will be sorry. I also don't know if you can get the rail off with the EGR in place or not since I removed my EGR a while ago. but by keeping the injectors in the rail you can then power the fuel pump test plug and the fuel pressure should go to max pressure and if any of the injectors do leak you will be able to see which ones. You are more than likely going to need new O-rings for the injectors when you put them back in. Be careful not to break you plastic fuel lines.

well a couple different reasons the motor has 185,000 miles on it and it acts like it is loading up when ideling in gear i have replaced ever thing that could cause this other than the injectors so thats the next thing and with that many miles on them and not knowing the history of the car would just like to do it just for good mesure to and it would be something new that i would learn to do

I looked at my spare LT1 yesterday while I was at my storage unit and the egr will not be in the way. like I said unbolt the 4 bolt in the fuel rail on top and you will have to pry them up very easy. at 185k you are running the risk of having pieces fall off into the cylinders. Not saying they will but there are plastic pieces that are known to break while they are in the bore. The O rings should keep them from going in if you are very careful and have a helper to grab them before the injector pops all the way out. Use a little wd40 to help them slide a bit easier in the bore on their way out. once you get them out tape off the bores so no crap gets into the cylinder. then have some one hold the fuel rail up away from the engine and you can test them by finding the small black plug with red wire back near the PCM on the passenger side fender. This is the fuel pump test port if you connect it to the positive side of the batt with a short piece of wire it will run the fuel pump for you with out having to turn the key on. this will pressurize the fuel rail and allow you to see if any of the injectors leak. they shouldn't. if they do replace the leaking ones, but at 185k you have to wheigh the option of just replaceing them becasue good injectors with old fouled up ones can cause other problems. Be sure the car is not warm while doing this and that there are no ignition sources near the fuel rail while testing. Do not try and turn the engine over while the injector ports have tape on them. you will be pulling the intake if not the heads.
