Default Piston ring gap

I need some help with gapping my rings, The person who helped blueprint my motor suggested that I gap my rings myself and lent me a tool to do so. Problem is, I can't seem to use the tool properly. Its a pretty generic grinder that mounts to a table from speed pro, A ring filler.. im sure if you can help me you know what im talking about.

Anyhow, I can't seem to grasp how to hold the ring so it doesnt move, I know the edges need to stay square on the rings, but the Ring filler disk has a wobble and the disk is bent aswell. Its making me feel like the grinds arnt coming out perfectly square.

So my question is, How do i hold the ring properly so it doesnt move and grinds perfectly. And second is the wobble in the tool normal? and should i replace the disk because its bent? or warped if that helps you picture it. I know that seems like a obvious question, but i just didnt think he would lend me a tool that doesnt work properly.

Thanks
