Guide plate Alignment Whats the best way to adjust guide plates? My theory would be to get intake and exhaust on the base circle of cam and center the roller on the valve tip then tighten rocker studs turn motor over a few times to check alignment. Just looking for some insight.
What guideplates are you using? If they are non-adjustable, just make sure they are centered over the rocker studs before tightening them down. Keep in mind that the pushrods will touch the guideplates, so as long as there is no excess wear you're fine.

They are the GMPP I'm guessing centered more aft to front more than the other.

went with the ISKY adjustables and could line up each RR perfect. ISKY's have been on the motor for years now.
i have afr non-adjustable guideplates. Loosen rocker studs, then with the play (bigger rocker stud holes) and/or flipping the plates over i got the alignment right. Didn't take long at all. good time to silicone those studs in too.
