fried clutches. if you had to add fluid and ran it for a while with it low then clutch pack may be toast.

I dont know what you think is going to be "cheaper to convert" to, but be ready to drop a minimum of $1500 unless you have a spare trans laying around

Sell me the conversion for 800 and I'll give you my "built 4l60E and converter" Just don't read up on my trans problems over the past 2 years.

That's a good deal, however there'll be a bit of work, when it comes to installing the pedal assembly and clutch linkage, plus the BCM interface...

Yeah, really...but that's a used transmission, of unknown pedigree. A rebuild kit for the 4L60 is close to $400 in itself. When I had mine done several years ago, by someone I knew and trusted, it cost me $800, including a new converter, but I did the R&R labor....

I've talked to some junk yards out here that sell used 4L60E's off there shelf's that have been tested for operation, they go for around $400 with exchange.

I've also seen few websites that sell used for around the same price with exchange. They are not sponsor so i cant tell you who they are.

If your just looking to have something to get by, spending around $200-400 on a used trans is not bad choice in my opinion. Since your not making over 400hp you should be fine.

i say it depends on what your trying to do with the car... if its just a daily driver like mine is then it would be much more reasonable to just get it rebuilt and get a bigger transmission cooler and never have to worry about it ever again.
