Default Rich at idle

Ok still going round and round with this crap with the tuner. He says nothing he dose will control how rich the car will idle at, so my question is WHAT in open AND closed loop would cause an LT1 to idle rich? lol Specs are in sig
Oh yea and it's fouling out plugs every 500 to 1000 miles and O2's at about 2000 mile intervals.

sounds like you need a new tuner...........you should be able to tune the car right off the MAF table and dial in the entire range.....call a reputable tuner such as ed wright or pcm4less.......or ask for help on here if you are capabile of doing it yourself....

Exhaust and/or vacuum leaks!!! Also, who is tuning your car, that could be the issue?

Fixed the exhaust leak I had and can find no intake or vac leak.

Well he no longer will tune LT1's so I am looking for a new tuner anyway.

yes I am somewhat sure as the idle changes and the IAC will back off and not be screaming at me through the CIA. But once the plugs start to foul the idle stays high and the IAC is always screaming through the CIA.

It has a BBK 52mm on it. Ran it with the stock engine in there before the build and never had issues with it.

I guess I just need to pony up and buy a damn wide band to look at it. I just found it odd that he said he couldn't control anything at idel in the tune? Is that correct or is that BS? It is an OBD II PCM but I have a OBD I that I may have someone tune but I guess it really wont matter.

Have you done some data logging with it?

Many things can be adjusted in the tune to alter fueling, just how rich (LTFTs) is it?

I'd have to look at it and data log it again but if I remember it was like +12 on one and + 18 to 20 on the other. I just can't remember if that was before or after I fixed the exhaust leak. I will do it tonight and post up LTFT's

Do you mean +12 above 128? If so then you are running lean not rich. Exhaust leak will cause a false lean condition making your motor run rich due to the fuel corrections and therefore your O2s will read rich. Clarify your actual LTFT's?

On my scaner it says LTFT+3 one bank and +10 on the other. I did a data log this morning. Timing is holding at around 34deg cruising at 45 under light throtle(10%TPS).I can do an idel data log if needed. I don't know much about what all the numbers mean in the data log. So +12 above 128? makes no sense to me. I am tring to learn what it all means so any help would be great.

Ok man, here is a good reference for you to read to get a grasp of tuning and what we are talking about.

sounds fun... I would definatly go with a different tuner because without leaks or a problem in the ignition system you should not have a problem
