You are too quick to make the assumption that I don't have any automotive knowledge and taking short cuts applies to everything, including mistakes. Do I need a tune on a cam swap? - yes. Was I getting all emmisions removed in the whole scheme of things? - yep. Will this ring have any benefit for the motor, when I get my desired tune? - no. Is it a factoid that the older hub will take up the extra space needed? - absolutely! I'm talking about a 100k motor that will get replaced or rebuilt when funds allow for it - not a freshly built one-totally different animals. I get what you're saying though-take your time and do it the right way. But, if you're in my situation, don't look back and worry about it. Relax and argue with experts in this forum!

I'm not bashing you, I'm actually impartial especially after your last post. I'm just curious as to how close your funds are to affording the 383 you want?

Man....with a 1 year old daughter and tons of monthly bills, i'm guessing atleast 2 more years. Probably buy a short block, put it on a stand, and budget the heads later. It's not a dd car, so it's not a priority like it used to be a few years ago.

Lots of things are put in our cars for a reason. And we get rid of them or exchange them for other reasons.

At this point, who cares what SPOT ME 3 does with his car/engine/cam.

Although, if it really is a 10-30 minute job, then I would probably just do the damn thing!

I guarantee ya, it's not 30 minutes for 1 person jacking it up on stands, crawling under it to drop the front of the pan, scraping the rtv and prepping it, then carefully mating the front pan seal back to the timing cover, and torquing all the bolts. Atleast 1.5 hours without air tools is about what it takes for me anyway. I'm sure Tony Shepherd could do it at the track & in the staging lanes in 15! Just a guess!

ok maybe i was exagerating a little bit. but i do have air tools and electric impacts. the longest part would be jacking the car up for sure
